Our Veteran Employees – Part 3
CF Evans Construction is proud of our employees who served in the United States Military. Their work ethic and commitment to service shines through in all they do for us, and helps to make us successful. In the weeks leading up to Veteran’s Day, we will be posting interviews with five employees who selflessly served their country, and continue to serve alongside their coworkers to create communities.
This week, meet Justin Porter, Superintendent for CF Evans Construction!

Justin joined the US Navy in July of 2003. “I would say it was multiple things that pulled me into the service. First, is that I wanted to serve in a unique way and challenge myself to do more. I wanted to help others while doing the most challenging thing I had done in my life. Second, an unwavering love for my country.” Justin started his service on the USS Ronald Reagan in Norfolk Virginia. “I worked as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier. In essence, I directed pilots and tow tractor drivers to move aircraft on the flight deck. In 2004 after some ship testing, we took the ship all the way around South America (It was too big to fit through the Panama Canal) to San Diego California. We went on two more deployments, one to the Persian Gulf and another to the Sea of Japan, and made a couple of trips to Hawaii as well.” Justin separated from the US Navy in 2007 and returned to Illinois to help his family.

When asked why he joined CF Evans, Justin explains: “I got lucky finding CF Evans. I actually heard from a former co-worker about the company. I got on the web site and knew I needed to get hired. A family owned/oriented General Contracting Company was exactly what I was looking for. The company appeared to have all the traits I was looking for with my future career. I feel lucky to have found such a great group of people to share in my work days with.” Justin feels strongly that if there was ever a time his country needed him he would jump to help, and explains that “…CF Evans gives me the opportunity to give time if and when needed to causes both in support of Veterans and other organizations.”
We look forward to sharing more of our employee’s stories in the coming weeks. Are you interested in joining them and becoming part of our team? Visit our careers page to see current opportunities or to be notified of future openings.
