Safe + Sound Week 2026: A Culture Built on Everyday Choices
Last week, project sites across CF Evans paused for Safe + Sound Week, our annual push to put safety front and center. Crews held stand-downs at every active project, stepping away from production to talk through the hazards that matter most on a jobsite.
What Our Teams Focused On
Stand-down topics included fall protection, ladder safety, and housekeeping. These are not new subjects for our teams, and that is exactly the point. The habits that keep people safe are the ones practiced daily, not the ones reviewed once a year. Each conversation reinforced safe work practices, sharpened hazard awareness, and gave crews a chance to raise what they are seeing in the field.
Our safety manager, Reed Salley, led the effort across the company, coordinating with project teams to make sure every site had the time, materials, and support to run a meaningful stand-down. His work behind the scenes is a big reason the week landed the way it did, and it reflects the standard he holds our jobsites to the other 51 weeks of the year.
Recognizing Our Safety Champions
As part of the week, each project recognized Safety Champions: the team members who consistently lead by example and show a real commitment to working safely every day. These are the people who speak up when something looks off, who tie off without being asked, and who set the tone for everyone around them.
13 Weeks Perfect at Declan Huntersville
We also celebrated a standout accomplishment at our Declan Huntersville project, where Blythe Construction earned a perfect subcontractor safety score for 13 consecutive weeks. That kind of consistency takes discipline from every crew member on site, week after week. To mark the milestone, each Blythe crew member received a Chick-fil-A gift card.
