The Oaks

Orangeburg, South Carolina

The Methodist Oaks, named for the 700 acres of natural beauty near the Edisto River, was originally utilized as a training base for French and American Air Cadets and established as a continuing care retirement community in 1953.  In the spirit of promoting dignity and quality of life, construction of several facilities was completed on the campus, eloquently renamed The Oaks. The Walsh Apartments added a 3-story building with 30 independent living units. C. Burton Sheffield Nursing Medical Center, a 176 bed Alzheimer's unit, was built to meet the medical needs of the residents.  Renovation projects include expansion of the nurses' station at Sheffield NMC and overhaul of Clinkscale Assisted Living facility. Aldersgate at the Oaks, a 7-bedroom, 3-bath group home for special needs men, was the latest edition and was funded through a HUD grant.

"One of the most important things to us in working with a contractor is integrity.  And with C.F. Evans, their word is their bond.  You can count on them to deliver a building that you can be proud of, backed by a level of personal attention that starts with their president and extends throughout every person in the company."

"The Methodist Oaks appreciates the professional manner in which C.F. Evans worked with our organization on a small but very difficult renovation in our Skilled Nursing Facility. You continued our long history with your company in bringing projects to fruition on time and in budget. Your work with the Architect on the front end and the work performance were a huge help in what could have been a very disruptive renovation. Your staff came up with solutions for a significant renovation of an acute skilled care area without having to move residents - Satisfying DHEC with the plan of action and meeting all expectations and inspections. The space is one of our show places and I look forward to the day when we can complete the other two wings. In short, thank you for a good job from front end, to back end, to follow up."
